I bought mine used in very good condition about a month and a half ago for 18$ and couldnt be more pleased with it. It did come with a very weird dusty film on it and under the protective stickers but the heater itself has 0 sign of use once cleaned up.Heats a 25×10 foot brick basement room (no door) in about 20 minutes with a starting room temp of about 50-55 degrees f and a heater temp of 82 degrees f. Then you can maintain the heat on a normal temp setting like 72 degrees f for over 2 hours. This is on the auto mode of course and oscillation enabled.Its relatively quiet and I use it while I stream on youtube and you cant even hear it in the microphone (with a noise gate though). So thats great.All in all really impressed with it. I mean, I paid 18$ for it. Your opinion may vary if you pay full price I guess.Anyways, hope this helps someone decide!

It doesn’t put out as much heat as my Lasko — hence no grounding prong on the plug — but it’s quiet, and that’s what I needed so that my mother can sleep without noisiness.I tested the safety feature when it’s knocked over. It beeps before it turns off, whereas my Lasko immediately turns off, but it works.Another feature is that when you turn it off, it blows cooler air to dissipate the heat in the unit. Interesting and probably good in the long run.One complaint — it is hard to read the controls on the heater itself. Everything is black.

I received excellent support over the holiday period, and a replacement was sent proactively, in the event that the problem were to recur. I don’t know if this was due to my purchase of a several year warranty on the unit or not, but I suspect that is the case. My customer service experience was very helpful.

The ability to pick a temperature and have it automatically do the rest is very handy, as is the remote control.I’ve also used it to warm up my motorcycle engines in the winter to help them start easier. I needed to replace my old 24″ tower heater, and I didn’t really have a lot of time to shop around, so I took a chance on this one.I was rather surprised.After going from a 24″ tower to a 16″ one I was thinking, “There’s no way this thing is going to heat my room.” but it does a fantastic job.My old unit was 1200w 5k BTU and this one is 1500w at over 5100 BTU, so it handles the job rather nicely.I did have to set it on top of the box it came in because when it sits one the floor it makes the carpet very hot, and I was afraid it might start a fire, but that just me being cautious.I took one star off for a couple of very small reasons.First of all the ambient temperature reading on the unit seems to be off a bit, so if you want to maintain a room at a certain temperature, you have to set the unit to three or four degrees higher than the temperature you want.Second, the remote is very nice it has a textured coating that gives it a good feel, but the problem is that it’s difficult to tell the difference between the buttons without staring at the remote.Which is fine in a lit room or during the day, but in the dark it’s hard to tell which button you are pushing.I’ve had where I go to adjust the temperature and end up changing every setting but the temperature.Some separation between the buttons or a lighted remote would be nice.Overall it’s an extremely efficient little heater, and sometimes it’s so quiet I don’t even know it’s on.Were anyone to ask me for a recommendation on a space heater, I would not hesitate to put this one up front.

Feel good about the purchase
Excellent quality and quiet. Short in height (16 inch tall x 6 inch square) best used on the floor. Works just as well as the taller space heaters. Can easily heat a large bedroom or office. Way too efficient for a bathroom, however, it has an accurate thermostat that shuts off the unit when the temp is reached so one can use it in a small room or a bathroom. You can shut off the oscillation if needed. My wife uses it in her 14 x 16 office as her legs are always cold even with the central heat. This sits on the floor and is very, very quiet and blows the heat out nicely. In addition to heating a room, it warms the legs and anybody near it efficiently. I do want to say, it is a true space heater and not just for blowing heat on legs. It will bring a room up to a very hot temp if you do not set the temperature, which you can do so easily and accurately. We tested it and it goes off and on at the temp. you set it. Highly recommended.

Once set, turning it on returns to the last setting so we have a baseline default. Register with Dreo, you’ll get an upgrade to a 5 year warranty. Color me skeptical? Only the Shadow knows. Quiet enough to be TV watching friendly. We use the lowest heat setting in oscillation mode and tune it out pretty quickly. Caveat, Dreo says to only plug it directly into a receptacle by itself. So you need to devote an entire duplex receptacle solely to the heater. And no power strips, multi plug-in blocks, extension cords, etc We have a duplex that is out of the way beside the hearth where we have the heater. So easy to accommodate. In your room configuration maybe a deal breaker? You’ll need a 3′ buffer zone for fire safety so consider where you’re going to put it first. No reason to tote it around, but light enough to do so easily. Recent article at msn.com on space heaters, this model Dreo was a Top 10 pick. So there is that.

Finally a real heater!!
My apartment is heated by all electric baseboard heaters that run my electric bill sky high so I don’t even use them. I basically just freeze downstairs because I have not been able to find a heater that does any good unless I am literally inches away from it. I work from home and I just couldn’t take it anymore. My friend let me borrow her Edenpure heater which is supposed to provide heat for large rooms and it’s worse than a desktop heater. I literally got this one today and also it is outperforming any heater I have ever purchased and I’ve purchased many expensive ones that I just end up giving away. I am so happy now. We heat a 11 x 11 side porch with it on days when outdoor temps are in the 50-60 degree range. It’s more than capable of warming the room. Controls are easy to use, remote is nice but I typically just turn on on with machine controls. Machine immediately shuts down if tipped.

The power cord is too short.
This is great little heater! It can warm up a room. But because the power cord is so short, you are not able to warm up your body… IF YOU CAN’T SIT AT LEAST 3 FEET FROM THIS HEATER.If you are in a regular size room, the power outlet may be 10-12ft away. And with this Dreo power cord only being 6ft long, the HOT air blowing out of the heater feels like COOL air by the time it reaches your body.. In my mancave(in the picture), this heater is 6 feet away from me…that’s as close as it can get…because the cord is only 6ft long. By the time air reaches me, it feels like cool air being blown from a fan…instead of a heater. Since heat rises, I feel warm when I stand up and cold when sit back down and my feet are freezing.THE SOLUTION: INCREASE THE CORD LENGTH TO 10 FEET! BECAUSE THE AIR IS “COOL” COMING FROM THIS HEATER WHEN IT HAS TO TRAVEL MORE THAN 4 FEET TO REACH YOU! INCREASE THE THE CORD BY “4 FEET” AND COMPLETELY CHANGE THE COMFORT OUTPUT OF THIS HEATER!

Quiet and very nice
It’s extremely quiet, looks really nice, appears to be well built. Works great so far after unboxing and testing, I just purchased today so have not used it for more than a few minutes so I can’t comment on longevity.The bad part is that the control buttons are smooth, and not indented or raised, making adjustment impossible in the dark, while using it at the bedside, and the remote is not any better, and the controls on both the unit and the remote are not backlit, making the problem even worse.It also has a burning plastic smell, even when it’s not running, that still is prominent even after a a week, hope it goes away eventually.
